Migration and recovery controls
Export a verified backup first. File mode, localhost and HTTPS use separate browser storage. Original localStorage is retained; database edits are not synchronized back. Keep the activated URL to reopen that dataset.
Interrupted migration: retain the source backup, repeat the same preview, and stage again. Existing differing datasets are never overwritten. A failed verification cannot activate a dataset.
Storage Monitor estimates the active encoded dataset only. It excludes retained migration datasets, unchanged legacy storage and database overhead. Keep backups and allow space for staging and image processing.

Launch with Local Server
- Export Ghost Garage Backup first.
- Open Terminal.
- Go to the workbox folder:
cd /path/to/ghost-garage-mobile/app - Run:
python3 -m http.server 5500 --bind 127.0.0.1 - Open: http://localhost:5500
- Use only generated QA data or a disposable QA backup in Data Vault. Do not import personal records into this test package.
Local File Mode and Local Server Mode use different browser storage. Export from file mode, then import after opening localhost.
Use the same browser and http://localhost:5500 address each time. 127.0.0.1 and other ports have separate storage too. Keep Terminal open; press Control+C to stop the server.
The command requires Python 3 already installed. If it is unavailable or prompts you to install tools, cancel and keep using index.html. This command may expose the folder to your local network; to restrict it to this computer, use python3 -m http.server 5500 --bind 127.0.0.1 --bind 127.0.0.1.
App install does not replace backups. Continue exporting Ghost Garage backups before major upgrades.
